On occasion Slither Inn Reptile Shop might take in an animal that has been surrendered. If that happens, the animal(s) will go through quarantine and get a vet check to ensure they are healthy prior to being adopted out. If we have anything you will see them listed as a sub-item under the Adoptions link.
We currently have five snakes in quarantine that will need a vet check then should be available for adoption sometime in July. We do require proof of appropriate enclosures, plus heating, lighting and prior to all adoptions.
HOWEVER WE ARE NOT A RESCUE. We cannot and will not take in everything that needs a home.
If you find yourself in need of rehoming your animal, we suggest you try the various reptile groups, there are several on Facebook (Fairbanks Reptiles, Reptile Owners of Alaska, & Reptile Lovers of Alaska, plus there is Reptile Rescue of Alaska but it is not tied to any one rescue, rather it is a place to list and rehome reptiles without any fee). Slither Inn Reptile Shop is not responsible for any of these groups. If rehoming through these groups, we recommend that you be sure the new home is prepared to care for your animal properly with the correct enclosure, husbandry and knowledge of the species. There are animals flippers that will seem to want your animal only to not really care for it and turn it around and try to sell it.
Lastly, we are firm believers based on over 30 years of experience that reptiles are not beginner animals and should never be adopted out as a child’s pet.
